We’re excited to announce the successful conclusion of our Design Thinking and Challenge Statement Workshop held on 15 August 2025. Jointly organised by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and the CyberSG TIG Collaboration Centre, the workshop was ably led by Chua Ruo-Mei, and assisted by Justin. It brought together cybersecurity professionals from twelve diverse organisations, each offering distinct insights and pressing industry concerns. The collective aim: to articulate and elevate their most pressing cybersecurity issues. These participating organisations are now well-equipped to submit thoughtfully crafted challenge statements for the upcoming Cybersecurity Industry Call for Innovation (CyberCall) 2025.
Kicking off the workshop, Mark Chong, Assistant Director of CSA, welcomed everyone and fostered a spirit of open collaboration. Attendees were introduced to the principles of design thinking—a human-centered approach championing empathy, creativity, and experimentation. During interactive breakout sessions, participants worked in smaller teams to thoroughly examine their cybersecurity challenges, brainstorm potential root causes, and prioritise next steps.
A key highlight was the vibrant cross-industry exchange. Ruo Mei’s engaging facilitation style provided a platform for lively discussions, enabling participants to not only distil their main challenges but also begin developing practical, actionable solutions. The room buzzed with energy as leaders forged new connections and shared expertise across sectors.
Throughout the session, teams presented their evolving challenge statements and benefitted from constructive feedback by peers and facilitators. This collaborative, iterative process helped ensure that statements aligned with organisational objectives, setting a strong foundation for future solution development. Beyond technical exchanges, the workshop also served as a valuable networking opportunity, encouraging ongoing partnerships moving forward.
This workshop marks a significant step forward in our collaborative journey. Armed with clearer, more refined challenge statements, participating organisations are now ready to progress to the next stage of CyberCall—where innovative solution providers will be mobilised to address these critical needs. We look forward to seeing the meaningful outcomes that will emerge from the collaborations sparked today.
A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our enthusiastic participants and to our subject matter experts— Yum Shoen Yih, Matthias Yeo, Prof. Abhik Roychoudhury, and Eddie Toh —for sharing their expertise. Our gratitude also extends to Ruo-Mei and Justin for their outstanding facilitation and commitment.
Together, we are paving the way for a more resilient, forward-thinking cybersecurity ecosystem. Stay tuned for further updates as we continue to strengthen collaboration and innovation across the sector.
