Preparation for CyberCall: Creating Better Challenge Statements Through Design Thinking Workshop

We are delighted to share the successful completion of our Design Thinking Workshop on 3 Sep 2024. The workshop was co-hosted by the Cyber Security Agency of Singapore (CSA) and the TIG Centre, and expertly facilitated by Plexal. This event brought together cybersecurity leaders from eight companies spanning various sectors, each contributing unique perspectives and pain points. Their collective goal: to define and prioritise their most critical cybersecurity challenges. Participating companies will have the opportunity to join our next Cybersecurity Industry Call for Innovation (CyberCall) November Edition with well-written challenge statements.

The workshop began with a warm introduction by Yeo Boon Hui, Senior Assistant Director, CSA, setting a collaborative tone for the day. Participants were introduced to design thinking, a methodology that promotes empathy, exploration, and innovation. Through dynamic breakout sessions, attendees worked in small groups to delve into their specific cybersecurity challenges, collaborate on solutions, and prioritise actionable steps.

A key highlight of the workshop was the cross-industry exchange of ideas. Plexal’s guidance fostered an environment of rich dialogue, where participants not only identified their top challenges but also started crafting practical solutions. The energy was palpable as leaders from different sectors came together to share insights and form new alliances.

As the workshop progressed, each group presented their refined challenge statements, receiving valuable feedback from peers and facilitators. This iterative process ensured alignment with organisational goals and helped participants leave with a clearer vision for addressing their cybersecurity needs. Beyond the technical discussions, the event served as an invaluable networking platform, laying the groundwork for future collaborations.

This workshop marks the beginning of an exciting collaborative journey. With refined challenge statements in hand, participating companies that choose to do so, are ready to advance to the next phase of the CyberCall programme, where their challenges can be addressed through innovative solutions from the cybersecurity ecosystem. We are eager to see the impactful outcomes that will arise from the connections made today.

A special thank you to all participants for their enthusiasm and creativity, and to our subject matter experts—Goh Weihan, Matthias Yeo, Emil Tan, and Yum Shoen Yih—for their invaluable contributions. We also extend our deepest gratitude to Ruby Motabhoy and Holly Smith from Plexal for their passionate and professional facilitation.

Together, we are shaping the future of cybersecurity. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to build a resilient and innovative cybersecurity ecosystem.
